On 19 – 20 April 2007, in the GCA Cotton House, the meeting of cotton experts and heads of the member companies’ laboratories was held. The new official Uzbek standards for medium-staple Uzbek cotton as well as valid universal US standards for Upland cotton were presented. The most important aspects of cotton classification were discussed, as well as the situation on the world and Polish markets of cotton. Also, two presentations were made: ” ITRU Fibre Tester UAK-1 System for Measuring the Features of Fibre, Sliver and Yarn” – by Prof. Iwona Frydrych (Technical University of Lodz), and “Cotton Markets in the World and in Poland -April 2007” by – A. Drozdz (GCA).
On the second day, there was a common training in cotton classification of cotton samples of various origins, when the manual classification results were compared to the test results from the HVI line in the GCA laboratory.
There were 19 participants of the meeting.
On 19 April 2007, the meeting of the Committee for Fixing Value Differences wasalso held. The Value Differences Tables No 1/2007 were established.
