HIGHER ORDERS AND SALES FOR TEXTILE MACHINERY SECTOR

Rieter’s Textile Systems and Saurer Textile Solutions achieved record order intake and sales figures last year in a market characterised by strong demand from the major Asian growth regions.

The high backlog, together with the sustained strength of the main textile markets due to continued support for investment from governments in India and Turkey, point to further sales increases in 2007.

Rieter’s Textile Systems

Compared with 2005, orders received rose by 46 % to CHF1.72 billion. This growth was broadly-based and strong for the whole range of systems, machines and components for the staple fibre machinery sector.

Sales also hit a record level – in the 2006 financial year rose by 29 % to CHF 1.40 billion.

Saurer Textile Solutions

Saurer Textile Solutions’s division order intake in 2006 increased to (euro) €1.438 billion, up by 35% on 2005. Order intake in the second-half of 2006 was 41% on the corresponding period in 2005. The increased order intake was not directly reflected in sales, however. Saurer Textile Solutions’s sales increased by 11% to €1.304 billion in 2006 versus €1.173 in the prior year. Over the past year, Saurer has positioned itself as a full-service provider in the nonwovens sector and secured projects in all the major technologies. A new mid-range spinning machine, the Zinser 360, was successfully introduced.
