Foreign Trade Administration in Turkey has concluded the Safeguard investigation on cotton yarns and advised the Turkish Council of Ministers to take the following definitive measures  on HS code 5205, and thus excluding HS 5206 and 5207, for a period of three years (starting retroactively on the date of the provisional measures, i.e.  15 July 2008), in the form of ad-valorem duty with minimum and maximum thresholds (i.e. specific duty limits) as shown in the following table:

Cotton yarn imports in Turkey in 2007 – 432,4 thousands tons (in 2003 – 65,2 thous. tones) and it is equal ca. 12% of total Turkish cotton yarn production. Import from EU in 2007 – 3,4 thous. tons.
