The 73rd Session of the International Cotton Advisory Committee ICAC, which was held on 2 – 7 November 2014 in Thessaloniki, Greece, was attended by the Polish delegation headed by Adam Orzechowski – Deputy Director of the Department of Trade Policy in the Ministry of Economy.
The theme of the Session were issues under the common title “From Land to Brand: Strengthening the Cotton Value Chain”. Similarly to previous ICAC meetings, the works were carried out during plenary sessions where only representatives of governments’ delegations were allowed to take floor as well as during open and breakout sessions, and during the ICAC World Cafè meeting, where all the interested in a topic of a specific session could take part. In total, there were 3 plenary sessions, 6 open and 6 breakout ones. Moreover, parallel, technical sessions and meetings of numerous organisations and ICAC expert task forces were held. Alois Schoenberger, Vice President of the Gdynia Cotton Association, President of Cottonex-Anstalt took part in the Private Sector Advisory Panelmeeting – as the representative of the Polish private sector. the GCA representative participated also in the CSITC meeting (Task Force on Commercial Standardisation of Instrumental Testing of Cotton) as well as in other meetings dealing with matters concerning production, processing and trend analysis in the cotton sector. The Gdynia Cotton Association delivered the annual report on the cotton promotion to the International Forum for Cotton Promotion.
