Referring to the continuing condition of epidemics and health threat, implemented social restrictions, and considerable worsening of the economic situation, the Board of Directors of the Gdynia Cotton Association, at their meeting on 29 May 2020, decided to postpone the celebration of the GCA 85th Anniversary until 2021, and to organise the celebration as an event accompanying the 80th Ordinary Reporting-Electing General Assembly of GCA members.
- Ordinary General Assembly of the GCA members held on 24 June 2020 approved the decision of the Board of Directors.
Reasoning:
Having analysed the state of the matter and experts’ opinions, we concluded that the current status of the epidemics will prevent organisation of the Anniversary Session in autumn (as it was temporarily assumed in the Board’s session in March). Threat to the health of the guests, whom we intend to invite to the Anniversary celebrations, will probably continue in autumn. On the other hand, May/June next year should allow safe organisation of such session as well as accompanying meeting(s) – even if the Covid-19 threat still exits – as we will gain experience in companies and societies functioning at time of the virus.
