As European figures show a huge increase in the seizures of fake branded clothing, Fashion Business International is joining with the ASBCI to present a one-day conference on the twin issues of anticounterfeiting and design protection.
The event, called “Protect the Brand – fighting the copycats and fakes”, is specifically aimed at helping fashion and textile professionals to combat the counterfeiters and design pirates. It will take place on Tuesday, October 30th, at the Holiday Inn, Regents Park, in Carburton Street, London.
The conference will platform ten of the UK’s foremost specialists in anticounterfeiting and design protection, including speakers from Anti Copying in Design (ACID), legal experts from leading law firms Mischon de Reya and Davenport Lyons, the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Counterfeiting Intelligence Bureau, Timberland UK, the Anti Counterfeiting Group (ACG), investigators Carratu International plc and product authentication consultancy Reconnaissance International.
There will also be presentations from a top designer and case studies from established brand names. Together they will detail the scale of the problem and provide expert and practical guidance on how to discourage and disrupt the illicit use of “intellectual property”. Julie King, head of department fashion and textiles at De Montfort University in Leicester, will chair the conference.
