The 4th International Conference on Natural Fibers under the theme “Smart Sustainable Solutions” was held on 30 June – 3 July 2019 in Porto in Portugal. The event attracted about 180 participants from 26 countries. The Gdynia Cotton Association joined the Organizations Supporting this event.
The Conference included three thematic both scientific and poster sessions held concurrently on each of the three days of the debates.
Scientific and poster sessions encompassed the following topics:
- Properties & characterization of natural fibers & structures
- Textile processing of natural fibers
- Functional natural fibers
- Nanodimensional natural fibers
- Natural fiber based polymeric composites
- Natural fiber modification techniques
- DNFI – Discover Natural Fibers Initiative
- Textile processing of natural fibers
- New processes for natural fiber agriculture extraction and processing
- Natural fiber reinforced biopolymers
- Sustainability of natural fibers: life cycle assessment studies
- Textile processing of natural fibers
- Analytics, modeling and prediction of properties and behavior
- Natural fiber based cementitious composites
- Green composites
- Innovative natural fibres and structures
- Advanced fibrous structures based on natural fibers
The Director of the Institute of Natural Fibres and Medicinal Plants Assoc. Prof. Małgorzata Zimniewska, PhD Eng – Research Manager under the CELPREG Project “Preimpregnated flax fibre laminate for processing under low pressure conditions” – participated in the Conference and presented a poster entitled “Comparative analysis of properties of different varieties of flax fiber meeting requirements of composite reinforcement” documenting the results of so-far researches realised under the a/m Project.
The presented outcomes aroused interest among the participants of the Conference.
