Vietnam- Member States approve launch of FTA negotiations

Member States have formally given to the EU Commission the mandate to start FTA negotiations with Vietnam. It is expected that the Public Consultation to hear stakeholders’ views will start soon. According to the industry representatives one of the biggest issue will be with rules of origin: no chance to see an agreement of Vietnam on EU standard preferential rules of origin.

Textile represents 1,6% of total EU Imports from Vietnam and 2,6% of total EU Exports to the country. Clothing represents 13,8% of total EU Imports from Vietnam and 0,4% of total EU Exports to the country.
