Invitation to the 12th edition of the Professor Witold Żurek Contest
The deadline for submitting works is March 16, 2026.
The date of the postmark determines the timely submission of works.
The Professor Witold Żurek Cotest for the best diploma thesis on textiles, in accordance with its Regulations, may be entered by graduates of first- or second-cycle studies at Polish public and private universities who defended their bachelor’s, engineering and master’s diploma thesis on textiles within a period no longer than 12 months before the date of the Competition announcement.

Laureates of the XI. edition of the Professor Witold Żurek Memorial Contest for 2024
Five works were submitted to the Competition: including two engineering theses and 3 master’s theses. The Chapter of the Contest decided to award the following prizes:
in the master’s theses category, the following were awarded:
2nd place – Mrs. Joanna Szpunar
for the master’s diploma thesis: “Analysis of liquid moisture transport in multi-layer clothing systems” , performed under the supervision of prof. Ph.D.Eng. Małgorzata Matusiak; at the Institute of Textile Architecture, at the Department of Technology and Construction of Textiles of the Łódź University of Technology.
3rd place – Mrs. Morgan Clara Renard
for the master’s diploma thesis: “Assessment of thermal properties of multi-layer protective clothing containing phase change materials” carried out under the supervision of Ph.D. Adam Puszkarz at the Textile Institute, at the Department of Technology and Construction of Textiles of the Łódź University of Technology.

3rd place – Mrs. Ewelina Malinowska
for the engineering diploma thesis entitled: The influence of surface modification of basalt fabric with esage of the airgel on selected properties” carried out under the supervision of Ph.D. Eng. Pamela Miśkiewicz and Ph.D. Eng. Andrzej Nosal at the Institute of Textile Architecture, in the field of Textiles and Fashion Industry of the Lodz University of Technology,
The awards, funded by the Gdynia Cotton Association, were presented on May 24, 2025, during the ceremony of the 80th Anniversary of the Lodz University of Technology. The GCA was represented by the Vice-President, Prof. Iwona Frydrych.
