Laureates of the X Edition of Professor Witold Żurek Memorial Contest / for 2024

Determining the results of the 10th Edition of Professor Witold Żurek Memorial Contest for the best diploma thesis regarding textile topics, the Chapter of the Contest decided to grant

the 1st place and the award to Mr Michał Stępień for the master’s diploma thesis entitled “Analysis of selected functional properties of ecological clothing packages”, carried out under the supervision of prof. Ph.D. engineer Iwona Frydrych;

Second place was granted ex aequo to:
Ms Morgan Klara Renard for the engineer’s diploma thesis entitled “”Modeling of thermal insulation properties of multi-layer textile systems used in firefighters’ protective clothing”, carried out under the supervision of: dr hab. Adam Puszkarz;

and

Ms Urszula Chlebicka for the engineer’s diploma thesis entitled: “Zero Waste. Clothing construction allowing for minimizing waste”, written under the supervision of: Dr. Eng. Magdalena Owczarek and Dr. Andrzej Foder;

The Chapter of the contest decided also to grand third place ex aequo for two diploma thesis:
Ms Magdalena Małkowska for the engineer’s diploma thesis entitled: „Assessment of the ballistic effectiveness of soft ballistic packages”, carried out under the supervision of: Dr. Justyna Pinkos.

and

Ms Marta Kołodziejak for the master’s diploma thesis entitled: “Pictograms in clothes”, made under the supervision of: Dr. Anna Szumigaj-Badziak and Dr. Eng. Magdalena Owczarek.

At the request of the Director of the Gdynia Cotton Association, it was also granted Distinction in the form of a commemorative diploma of Ms. Eng. Joanna Szpunar for the engineer’s diploma thesis entitled “Collection of clothing made of embossed fabrics”, written under the supervision of: prof. Ph.D. engineer Małgorzata Matusiak.

The awards ceremony took place on May 24, 2024, during the Celebration of the 79th Anniversary of the Lodz University of Technology.

Determining the results of the 9th Edition of Professor Witold Żurek Memorial Contest for the best diploma thesis regarding textile topics, the Chapter of the Contest decided to grant

the 1st place and the award to Ms Ewelina Fryc for the master’s diploma thesis entitled “Social message in clothing. Design and implementation of a clothing collection and poster” written under supervision of Magdalena Owczarek PhD Eng., Anna Szumigaj-Badziak PhD.

Second place was granted to Ms Monika Kawelczyk for the engineer’s diploma thesis entitled “Material and construction design of gloves type EVA for cosmonauts” written under supervision of prof. Izabella Krucińska PhD Emg., Ewa Skrzetuska PhD Eng.

Third place was granted to Ms Ewa Kaczmarek for the bachelor’s diploma thesis entitled “The use of photo luminescent materials in building clothing collections” written under supervision of Magdalena Owczarek PhD Eng.

Laureates of the VIII Edition of Professor Witold Żurek Memorial Contest / for 2022

Determining the results of the 8th Edition of Professor Witold Żurek Memorial Contest for the best diploma thesis regarding textile topics, the Chapter of the Contest decided to grant

the 1st place and the award to Ms Nina Kuryłło Eng. for the master’s diploma thesis entitled “Specialized clothing for adults with Down syndrome” written under supervision of professor Małgorzata Matusiak at the Department of Technology and Construction of Textiles of the Łódź University of Technology.

Second place was granted to Mr Michał Stępień Eng. for the masters diploma thesis entitled “The influence of gluing clothing materials with glued inserts on their multidirectional drapability and bending stiffness” written under supervision of prof. Iwona Frydrych at the Department of Technology and Construction of Textiles of the Łódź University of Technology.

The awards were handed  during the ceremony celebrated on occasion of the Day of the Łódź University of Technology on 24 May 2022.

Determining the results of the 6th Edition of Professor Witold Żurek Memorial Contest for the best diploma thesis regarding textile topics, the Chapter of the Contest decided to grant the 1st place and the award to Ms. Katarzyna Cieśla, B.Sc. for the  engineer’s diploma thesis entitled “Pregnancy clothing – design and implementation”, written under supervision of Ms. Justyna Pinkos  PhD Eng., at the Faculty of Material Technologies and Textile Design – Institute of Architecture, Department of Technology and Construction of Textiles  of the Łódź University of Technology.

Results of the 5th Edition of Professor Witold Żurek Memorial Contest / for 2018

Determining the results of the 5th Edition of Professor Witold Żurek Memorial Contest for the best diploma thesis regarding textile topics, the Chapter of the Contest decided to grant the 1st place and the award to Ms. Dominika Kamińska, M.Sc. for the  master’s diploma thesis entitled „Analysis of Technological and Usable Properties of Fabrics with a Share of Soya Fibres”, written under supervision of Małgorzata Matusiak  PhD Eng., at the Faculty of Material Technologies and Textile Design – Institute of Architecture, Department of Technology and Construction of Textiles  of the Łódź University of Technology. The award will be handed  during the ceremony celebrated on occasion of the Day of the Łódź University of Technology on 24 May 2019.

Results of the 4th Edition of Professor Witold Żurek Memorial Contest / for 2017

Determining the results of the 4th Edition of Professor Witold Żurek Memorial Contest for the best diploma thesis regarding textile topics, the Chapter of the Contest, acting pursuant to the criteria set out in Part III of the Contest Rules, decided to grant the 1st place to: Gabriela Kosiuk, B. Sc. for the engineer’s diploma thesis entitled “The apparel improving the visibility on the road””, written under supervision of Małgorzata Matusiak PhD Eng., at the Faculty of Material Technologies and Textile Design – Institute of Architecture, Department of Technology and Construction of Textiles of the Łódź University of Technology.

On behalf of the GCA Board of Directors – the Honorary Member of the Gdynia Cotton Association – Professor Tadeusz Jackowski handed the award during the ceremony celebrated on occasion of the Day of the Łódź University of Technology on 24 May 2018.

Determining the results of the 3rd Edition of Professor Witold Żurek Memorial Contest for the best diploma thesis regarding textile topics, the Chapter of the Contest, acting pursuant to the criteria set out in Part III of the Contest Rules, decided to grant the 1st place to Pamela Miśkiewicz M.Sc  for the  master’s diploma thesis entitled  –  „ Influence of Clothes’ Personalisation on  a Thermal Comfort of Users” written under supervision of Agnieszka Cichocka PhD Eng. at the Faculty of Material Technologies and Textile Design of the Łódź University of Technology. 

On behalf of the GCA Board of Directors – the  member of the Board  Mr Marcin Granosik  handed the award during the  ceremony celebrated on occasion of the Day  of  the Łódź University of Technology on 24 May 2017.

the 1st place to Natalia Mateuszuk, B.Sc. for the engineer’s diploma thesis entitled „Experimental Analysis of Compressing Rigidity and Porosity of Spacer Fabrics”, written under supervision of Katarzyna Pieklak, PhD., at the Faculty of Material Technologies and Textile Design – Department of Knitting Technology of the Łódź Technical University; 

the 2nd place to Mateusz Aniszewski, B.Sc. for the engineer’s diploma thesis entitled „Impact of Anti-flammable Finishing of Textiles on Their Usage and Aesthetic Properties”, written under supervision of Waldemar Machnowski, Ph.D in the Material Science College of the Łódź Technical University.
