65TH PLENARY MEETING OF THE INTERNATIONAL COTTON ADVISORY COMMITTEE IN GOIANIA, BRAZIL

On 11 – 15 September 2006 the Polish delegation take part in the 65. Plenary Meeting of the ICAC in Goiania, Brazil. Delegation was headed by Mr Mieczysław Nogaj – Director of the Department of the Policy in the Ministry of Economic Affairs. Other delegates representatives of the manufacturers, traders and research institutes of the cotton sector – took the active part in the works of the Session. Polish delegates presented lectures and presentations during the particular sessions.
Representatives of the Polish cotton sector attended also the several meetings of the other international bodies which were organized at the same time in Goiania – Committee for International Cooperation between Cotton Associations, European Cotton Confederation, International Forum for Cotton Promotion. The representative of GCA was nominated to the post of Vice President of IFCP).
Governments of 53 member countries attended the meeting in Brazil. The representatives of the several international institutions like WTO, FAO, Common Fund for Commodities, European Commission, Unido took part in the meeting. The two new members entered the Comnmittee: Kazakhstan and Zambia. Brazil, as the host of meeting recalled the position of this country as the one of the largest exporters of cotton. During his inaugural speech the Brazilian Minister of Agriculture, the Honorable Luis Carlos Guedes Pinto stressed also the importance of the Doha Round negotiations for Brazil and other leaders from G20 Countries.
