In December 2006 the Public Consultation was announced on the new Market Access Strategy, which is worked out in the frame of the Global Europe policy

The temporary report on future Market Access Strategy summarising the contributions to the consultation has just been prepared by DG Trade. The main conclusions of the temporary report are: strong support for the Market Access Strategy and its review; need for better prioritisation of the Strategy with a strong focus on EU main trading partners and the emerging countries; support for strengthened cooperation between the Commission, EU Member States and business; favour a more pragmatic approach aiming at effective and dynamic approach to deal with trade and investment barriers in international markets;

European organisations of the textile and clothing sector prepared the joint material, which was presented by EURATEX. Generally – the responses of other groups of interests given in the consultation seem to be in line with Euratex response.
